Existing Water Right Information

Staff has analyzed the water rights tabulation and consulted with the Division Engineer's Office
(DEO) to identify any potential water availability problems. There are three decreed surface
diversions within this reach of stream (Alexander Pit Pump, San Miguel Project Div Wand Oak
Street Pipeline). According to the DEO, there is usually sufficient water available within this
stream reach to satisfy the recommended instream flow amount. Based on this analysis, staff has
determined that water is available for appropriation on the San Miguel River, from Bear Creek to
the South Fork San Miguel River, to preserve the natural environment to a reasonable degree
without limiting or foreclosing the exercise of valid existing water rights.

CWCB Staff's Instream Flow Recommendation
Based on the CDOW recommendation, staff recommends the Board form its intent to appropriate
on the following stream reach:

Seament: Bear Creek to South Fork San Miguel River

Upper Terminus: Bear Creek at
(Latitude 370 56' 05"N) (Longitude 107048' 12"W)
UTM = 42 02 278N 13 2 53 624E

Lower Terminus: South Fork San Miguel River
(Latitude 370 56' 31 "N)(Longitude 1070 54' 02"W)
UTM = 4203 331N 13 2 45 118E
NW SE S31 T43N R9W NMPM
1660' West of East Section Line 1570' North of South Section Line

Watershed: San Miguel River (HUC: 14030003)
Counties: San Miguel
Length: 6.4 miles
USGS Quad(s): Gray Head, Telluride
Existing ISF Appropriation: 6.5 cfs (01101 - 12/31) = (4-84CW 427)
Enlargement Recommendation: 4.0 cfs (05/15 - 10/31)

- 6-

t'"

...
