Carl Trick raised the issue of SB06 - 179 money being used for needs assessments. Many on the Committee thought that the wording of the legislation allowed the money to be used for this purpose i f it was necessary. The decision was made by the Committee to choose a working group to tackle the needs assessment issue and to take feedback from the roundtables over the next 2 - 3 months. A report will be made by the working group at the next meeting ab out feedback received from roundtables about their needs assessments. Needs Assessment Working Group was selected: John Porter Peter Binney Melinda Kassen Eric Kuhn Eric Wilkinson Bill Trampe Alan Hamal CSU Conference Lynn Kathleen from Colorado State University addressed the Committee on the upcoming Colorado’s Future 2006 Conference. The conference is designed for roundtable members to learn about the use of research, data, and collaborative decision - th making processes in the roundtable process. The Co nference will be held on October 6 at the Copper Mountain Resort. Discussion of SB06 - 179 Criteria and Guidelines Julio Iturreria spoke about the use of a neural third party to draft criteria and guidelines in order to establish something to work from. Ray Wright thought that it is a good idea to put an initial draft together and believed the Committee should work with the CWCB to accomplish this. Wayne Vanderschuere thought that the CWCB has taken action by selecting a working group and that the ball is now in the IBCC’s court to respond and select a group to work with the CWCB. Eric Wilkinson suggests a four step process similar to the one used to draft the IBCC Charter: 1. Select working group to work with CWCB 2. Receive feedback from the basin roundtab les for criteria and guidelines 3. Working group sets up draft with CWCB
