2-07 House Committee Lay Over Unamended

as we've contemplated this issue, is to make sure that the compact
or the range of compacts are integrated together. But this is one of
those issues where you sit down at the start of the process and you
try and think through every issue. It's one that Eric, to his credit,
brought up and Northern has provided some ideas and concepts
about how we monitorize that and we intend to pursue that.

But it is key. I mean he raises a very legitimate, important point
that we look forward to addressing in the bill.

Madam Chair:

Thank you. Any other questions for Mr. Wilkinson? Alright.
Thanks very much.

Mr. Wilkinson:

Thank you, Madam Chair.

Madam Chair:

Melinda Casson.

Ms'. Casson:

Thank you, Madam Chair and members of the committee. I know
it's getting late. I'll try to be brief.

First of all I would like to thank both the sponsor, who I think has
reached out to just about everybody in the water community to talk
about this bill -

Madam Chair: Melinda, could you just say for the record who you're
representing?

Ms'. Casson: Oh, I'm sorry.

Madam Chair: Thank you.

Ms'. Casson: I was up here once before, but it doesn't count. My name is
Melinda Casson and I represent Trout Unlimited.

Madam Chair: Thank you.

Ms'. Casson: I'd also like to thank Russ George for trying to encourage all of us
to think about these issues in a different way. Trout Unlimited,
along with many other environmental and conservation, sportsman
groups, has supported the concept of basin _ and protection in
the past and we always support the concept of broad participation
in negotiations otherwise we don't get a seat at the table at all.
Then we're either whining or litigating, depending on what's
happening.

www.escriptionist.com Page 34 of 49
