Mr. Beaujon: White?

Representative Al White: Here.

Mr. Beaujon: McKinley?

Chairperson Curry: He's excused.

Mr. Beaujon: And Representative Curry?

Chairperson Curry: Here.

And McFadyen and Rose [unintelligible]

They might be

here.

Okay. We only have one bill on the calendar today.

Welcome back, Representative Penry. We have Senate Bill

179.

If you'd like to explain the bill to us, we'd appreciate

it.

Representative Penry:

Thank you, Madame Chair, Members of

the Committee.

It is good to be back.

I will be brief, because

I know we have some other people who have been instrumental in

the formation of this bill that will come and testify to you

about some of its finer points.

All of you remember House Bill 1177 from last year. And

this is really the next step in the implementation of that

process.

As an aside, I know--well, many of you know, but in case

you haven't--in the last couple of weeks, the Interbasin Compact

Committee that was formed as part of the 1177 process approved

the charter, which we will later have to approve.

- 2 -
