Chairperson Curry: And Rod, thanks for comlng.

My question was pretty much answered by Director George

earlier, but what I had hoped to do was get some feedback from

you regarding grant options that are currently in place.

If you have a project and you don't want to run it through

a roundtable and you want to go straight to the CWCB, Director

George mentioned that there are--and I wrote it down, actually,

that the state hasn't done anything substantial from a grant

standpoint, and this is probably the only place in the system

for grants.

In other words, this bill would be--he was speaking

In favor of the bill.

Can you tell me, just through the CWCB, how your grants

work?

Mr. Kuharich: Madame Chair, the program that we have is

for non-reimbursable funds and they fall into two categories.

One is projects of statewide concern, and the other is

feasibility studies that would lead eventually to loans for

projects.

The projects for statewide concern are specifically

identified in the Board's policy number 14, which should be up

on our webpage if someone needs it.

They're related to Compact-

entitled waters, regional water supply problems, federal water

rights issues, endangered wildlife species, satellite monitoring

river--and river restoration.

- 4 -
