Is there anyone else In the audience? Okay.

phase is closed.

Committee, I'd like to move to amendments. And I'm gOlng

The testimony

to actually offer mine first so that we can avoid a subtle

question issue.

If 09--oh, wait a minute, what am 1--07 fails,

then we can have a good debate about the others that are offered

that would amend that same section, Representative Penry. I

think that makes sense.

So, with--I'm going to offer L007 and try to explain it to

the Committee, if I get a second.

Representative McFadyen:

Second, Madame Chair.

Chairperson Curry:

Thank you, Representative McFadyen.

I started to say earlier what my thought here was, that I

was concerned that there might be--and this actually wasn't

intended to be a real hostile amendment, by the way.

My concern was that there could be irrigation districts or

small entities that should be able to compete for the state

dollars. And it could be a fair amount of money, $40 million--

up to $40 million available for grants over this four-year

period. And that's, like I said, a great idea. We need that.

But, I didn't want them to have to go through the Basin

Roundtable, if they wanted to go straight to the state for the

State money.

So, that's all this is about.

- 14 -
