DATE: July 6, 2006

TO: Gunnison Basin Roundtable Members

FROM: Michelle Pierce, Chairperson

SUBJECT: Report

Rather than taking up unnecessary time during the meeting, I just wanted to take a few minutes
to report on a couple of things.

First, I did send notices regarding appointee truancy to Mesa County, the municipalities of Delta
County, the municipalities of Montrose County (should not have included Nucla and Naturita
which are in a different basin, I’m told), and Roundtable appointees Mike A hlberg and Hank
Hotze. In accordance with our bylaws, we will give Mike Ahlberg and Hank Hotze time during
our meeting to explain their absences .

I’ve been contacted by Mesa County Commissioner, Tilman Bishop, who informed me that
Craig Meis’ schedule co nflicts with our meeting schedule and that Mesa County will appoint a
new representative very soon. I’m also aware that the Montrose municipalities are working to
replace Bill Brougham. Tom Huerkamp will continue to represent the Delta County
municipalit ies and had actually contacted me some time ago regarding an illness he had been
dealing with that had prevented his earlier attendance at meetings and to assure me that his
attendance would now improve.

I forwarded e - mails containing memos regarding Sena te Bill 179 funds from John Redifer,
th
CWCB, and Eric Hecox to the membership on June 13 . Please contact me as soon as
possible if you did not receive these and I’ll resend them.

st
I’m sure most of you are aware that the 31 Colorado Water Workshop will b e held at Western
State College in Gunnison on July 26 – 28. The line up includes a Friday morning session
entitled ‘Learning to Share a Developed Resource’ which will be centered around how the 1177
process is working.

Lyn Kathlene, Director of the Colo rado Institute of Public Policy is planning a conference to be
held on October 6, 2006 at the Copper Mountain Resort. The conference theme will be ‘Taking
the Plunge: Research as a Tool for Water Basin Roundtables.’ Lyn is still finalizing the agenda
an d I’ll forward it on to all of you once it ’ s available.

Finally, I’ve accumulated quite a bit of correspondence and related documentation from Dave
Miller with Natural Energy Resources Company regarding his proposed Central Colorado
Project . I haven’t re sponded to any of these since my initial correspondence with him some
months ago advising him that we would invite him to attend a future meeting when appropriate.
I’m assuming that this is still true but would appreciate hearing from anyone who would be
interested in looking his correspondence over.
