<br />in various types of public and private ownership.
<br />There are 10,000 miles of trout stream and 565
<br />miles of warmer fishing water in Colorado.

<br />State Parks
<br />
<br />Other recreation areas include those managed
<br />by the Colorado State Park and Recreation
<br />Department; State Land Board; Department of
<br />Game and Fish and the State Historical Society.
<br />The Colorado State Park and Recreation De-
<br />partment, operating since 1957, is in the process
<br />of acquiring .land and presently administers
<br />eight areas with a total acreage of 25,257.
<br />These areas are Adobe Reservoir, Antero Reser-
<br />voir State Recreation Area, Barker Reservoir,
<br />Beaver Park Reservoir, Cherry Creek Reservoir
<br />State Recreation Area, Eleven Mile Reservoir
<br />State Recreation Area, Sweitzer Lake State
<br />Recreation Area, and Vega Reservoir State
<br />Recreation Area.
<br />The State Land Board has under its jurisdic-
<br />tion the Colorado State Forest of 72,000 acres.
<br />The Colorado Department of Game and Fish
<br />includes a number of areas totaling nearly
<br />150,000 acres. Among these are game manage-
<br />ment areas, game ranges, refuges, and game
<br />experimental stations.
<br />The State Historical Society is responsible
<br />for six sites of 1,129 acres and local parks
<br />account for 38,557 acres. Historical monu-
<br />ments include Chief Oray, EI Pueblo, Fort
<br />Garland, Fort Vasquez, Healy House, and
<br />Pike's Stockade.

<br />
<br />Within the boundaries of the State of Colorado
<br />are more than 15 million acres of National
<br />Forests administered by the United States De-
<br />partment of Agriculture. They offer' a wide
<br />variety of outdoor recreational opportunities
<br />for all tastes. Justly famous for spectacular
<br />scenery, the State's National Forests encompass
<br />several of the highest peaks of the Rocky
<br />Mountains, and skiing, hiking, and camping
<br />are among favorite recreational activities. The
<br />National Forests of Colorado provide fishing
