This <br />was an information item and no action was taken. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Stream and Lake Protection - Recreational Flow Discussion of Next Steps <br />Tape 1, Start/Stop: 5284 - 7894 <br />Tape 2, Start/Stop: 0011 - 0502 <br />Action: Dan Merriman presented information to the Board explaining the <br />background regarding recreationallnstream flows. He invited the Board <br />members to participate in the tour of the boat chutes in Golden on the <br />second day of the meeting. Eric Kuhn expressed his view that no <br />legislation is necessary regarding recreational instream flows at this time. <br />Eric Wilkinson expressed the view that there are members of the public <br />that feel rights for recreational purposes should be addressed. He also <br />stated there were others that had serious concerns about the impacts <br />recreational water rights could have on Colorado's water rights system. <br />The State's role in granting water rights was questioned and it was <br />suggested that additional meetings should be held outside the Denver <br />area to hear public input from other locations throughout the State. Kelly <br />Custer from Trout Unlimited addressed the Board and expressed <br />concerns about this issue. Robert J. Poi rot, Chairman of the Clear Creek <br />Board of County Commissioners, presented a letter to the Board <br />explaining Golden's application for recreational water rights. Steve <br />Glazer, High Country, JoAnn Sorensen, Clear Creek County <br />Commissioners, and Rick Gaubet, Town of Silver Plume also addressed <br />the Board to voice their concerns about the issue. Rod Kuharich offered <br />his support in affecting an agreement between the various municipalities. <br />the recreational users, and the agricultural users. Hal Simpson <br />suggested that the staff explore how other States address recreational <br />instream flows. Information item; no action taken. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />7a. He indicated that there is a Water <br />Management and Sustainability Study being developed. This study will <br />be conducted by CWCs. CWCB Board members and staff have been <br />meeting to move this project forward as quickly as possible. He also <br />discussed Platte River Species Program issues.
