Tape 3:
Action:

Start/Stop: 0749 - 1144
Larry Lang, CWCB staff member, explained to the Board Why a new fund
should be created to handle flood emergency response. The fund would
allow staff to intervene when a town is inundated by flood;waters and act
as a liaison between the residents of the town and FEMA. CWCB would
create a revolving account and use the funds as needed. "If there are no
floods during a given year, the funds would be reallocated. This is a
grant request and will be fully presented during the January 2001 Board
meeting. This was an information item. No action was taken.

.

Adjourn 5:20 p.m.

Tuesda~November20.2000
Call to order at 8:00 a.m.

A regular meeting of the Colorado Water Conservation Board was held at
the Renaissance Denver Hotel, 3801 Quebec Street, Denv~r, Colorado
80207, commencing at 8:00 a.m. Tuesdy, November 21, 2000.
Chairperson Lewis Entz called the meeting to order. Education Initiative Update
Tape 3: Start/Stop: 1210 - 3341
Action: Dan McAuliffe, CWCB staff member and Tom Cech explained that there is
no formal water education program coordination at the State level for the
schools in Colorado. CWC has created a volunteer committee to provide
this type of service. There is a need for someone to coorditlate the State's
participation in water education programs. A program will be implemented
by the first part of 2001 and the activities will be tied into th~ CD that was
created and distributed to the Board members. Local funding and
matching State funding is needed in order to implement the program within
school systems. Denver Water has pledged $90,000. Nancy Kellogg is
the person identified at this time to fill this position. The education
coordinator will be the liaison between the Board and various interest
groups also involved in water education. This was an information item.
