.

.

WORK ITEM II
Mowing

.

This work item consists of mowing the work areas defined on the attached drawings to a
height of 6-inches. Mowing shall consist of all work required to cut the vegetation. All trash
and debris shall be removed from mowing limits prior to starting mowing operation. Mowing
debris and cuttings shall be swept or blown from the maintenance trail as the mowing
operation progresses and by 5 p.m. of each workday. No special payment will be made for
the inability of standard mowing equipment to access the work, the lack of an adequate trail or
road to reach the work, the lack of a stabilized mowing surface, or the difficulty to mow near
bridges or other drainage structures. It is expected that portions of areas adjacent to structures
will not be accessible to standard power driven mowing machines and may have to be mowed
with hand-held equipment.

.

.

There are two mowing patterns included in this contract. Pattern A is a four (4) foot band
on each side of the trail. Pattern A extends from C-470 to the end of the regular mowing limits at
the pedestrian bridge north of Franklin. Pattern B is weed eating/mowing (reference sheets 9, 14,
17, 18, 19,21,24,25,28,29,32, and 33) and should be bid on a square-foot basis.-

.

The intent of this specification is to provide a mowed area that has a uniform height of cut
vegetation. In many locations, the Contractor will be required to mow the area more than once to
achieve a unif9rm height; however, the finishe4 mowed height of vegetation shall not be less
than 6-inches above the ground. Also the Contractor should be aware that soil moisture and
weather conditions will affect the mowing operations.

.

MOWING LIMITS are as follows: (Refer to Typical South Platte Cross-Section Mowing
Limits).

.

PATTERN A: North end of South Platte Park (Mile Marker 13.5) to the end of the
regular mowing limits at 50th Avenue (Sheets 4 through 34).
PATTERN B: Mowing/weed eating island areas formed by sidewalks (Sheets 9,10,14,
17, J8, 19,21,24,25,32,33).
Weed eat/trim around trail and dam warning signs (Sheets 17, 18,25,
38).
