Valente
Chair, Adams County
Board of Commissioners
450 South Fourth Avenue
Brighton, CO 80601

Community: Adams County, CO
Community No.: 080001
Panels Affected: 0800lC0065 G and 0075 G
Effective Date of
This Revision:

JAN 2 ~ 200It

102-I-C

Dear Ms. Valente:

This responds to a request that the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) revise the effective Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for Adams County, Colorado and
Incorporated Areas, in accordance with Part 65 of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
regulations. In a request dated August 20,2003, Mr. Douglas C. Weber, P.E., Drainage Design Manager,
MKC/PTG, requested that FEMA revise the FIRM to show the effects of channel improvements associaled
with the E-470 highway construction along Third Creek from west of Chambers Road upstream to Tower
Road. The E-470 highway construction project incorporated a regional stormwater detention facility south
of 120th Avenue, bridge/culvert crossings at 1 20th Avenue and at the ramp from Highway E-470 to
Interstate Highway 76, and relocation/channelization of portions of Third Creek. This request follows up
on a Conditional Letter of Map Revision issued on October 11, 2001.

The Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the flood having a I-percent
chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood), along this reach of Third Creek is
designated Zone A, with no Base Flood Elevations determined.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with letters from Mr. Weber.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM. We
have revised the FIRM to modify the floodplain boundary delineations of the base flood along Third Creek
through your community. As a result of the modifications, the width of the SFHA for Third Creek
increased in some areas and decreased in other areas. The modifications are shown on the enclosed
annotated copies of FIRM Panels 08001C0065 G and 0800lC0075 G. This Letter of Map Revision
(LOMR) hereby revises the above-referenced panels of the effective FIRM dated August 16,1995.

Because this revision request also affects the Cities of Brighton and Commerce City, separate LOMRs for
those communities were issued on the same date as this LOMR.

The modifications are effective as of the date shown above. The map panels as listed above and as
modified by this letter will be used for all floOQ insurance policies and renewals issued for your
community.

A review of the determination made by this LOMR and any requests to alter this determination should be
made within 30 days. Any request to alter the determination must be based on scientific or technical datL
