and values: Water in 2025: Beliefs and Values as a Means for Cooperation, fi'om
the Colorado Institute of Public Policy at Colorado State University. The paper
can be found on-line at www.cipp.colostate.edu. Additional hard copies of the
report are available; email Lyn.Kathlene@colostate.edu or call 970-491-2544.
Lyn Kathleen has presented this to other roundtables. South Platte Rdtable will
consider inviting her to present to us later in the Spring.
--Similarly, SWSI proceeded with a similar exercise at its inception: to take time
at the beginning to discuss in a more formal manner what our management
objectives and interests are.
Add to this assessment of beliefs, technical information available. SWSI
presentations cmcial and valuable to this, per supplies and demands within the
basin, alternatives.
SWSI Phase II will go by topic (Phase I went by basin); roundtables should
integrate other studies and technical information, then do assessment and go
forward to definition of challenges.
Process as defined by Mr. Hecox could take much or little time; as SWSI is
finishing Phase II, we would be completing our investigative exercises so as to be
ready to integrate SWSI information and thus be prepared to assess if we will
work with SWSI info and to what extent. No limit to SWSI as information
source.
Ultimately: hope is that the Roundtables will make recommendations to IBCC on
projects and processes.
--One of the more important elements to this procedure will be the education and
outreach activities. Several roundtables have decided that over the next period of
time they will dedicate energy and time to education and outreach. (See page 3 of
proposed agenda for 2006.)
Example: Rio Grande basin: one member had been working on history of
management of the basin; DNR will assist in facilitation.
Example: Foundation of Water Education can assist; this information can be
disseminated with assistance of DNR if we find this would be useful.
Example: Speakers, resources, printed materials, publications that we think would
be useful, DNR will facilitate.
DNR encourages us to schedule time in each meeting for education and outreach
as other roundtables have done.
Hecox extends thanks to all voluntary members.

Bill Jerke: What do we think.. .how to go forward with ideas presented by Eric
Hecox? How to assist our IBCC reps in representing this roundtable? Per SWSI
information: how much do we do "study wise"; how do we make sure to give our
reps at IBCC tangible leadership.
--Bert Weaver, Clear Creek: We should take a longer term look fi'om the 30 year
study period fi'om SWSI.
--Steve Spann, Upper South Platte WCD: Perspective is one from the military:
this is a continuing ongoing process; we will constantly be looking forward with
a view of how to improve.

2
