Introductions and Members' Water Issues
The meeting began with each member present introducing themselves
and explaining the issues and concerns of their particular jurisdiction.
Following are summaries of these introductions:

1) Bill Jerke: Weld County introduction; 3rd largest county in state; no 1 in
Agricultural production; multiple water uses and sources; direct flow from
South Platte, St. Vrain, Thompson and Poudre Rivers; irrigation and
production. Pressures fi-om various arenas: State re: well augmentation-100s
of wells are being abandoned and not used as once were; Central liTigation
District will only pump at 50% quota; new district-including gas
producers--only producing at 15% as compared to several years ago.
Exemplifying another concern was the recent meeting of the Western Ditch
Meeting concerning buying rights, both direct flow and storage, and with
plans to ship much of this water south. Aurora also interested in that Ditch.
Microcosm throughout basin; concerned over augmentation; Weld County
considering invoking 1041 powers; survey out to Weld County water owners
and users.
2) Lisa McVicker, Center of Colorado Water Conservancy District (CCWCD)
created in 1997 by the voters of Park County, the purposes of which are to
conserve and defend the water resources of Park County and to exercise any
or all powers allowed pursuant to the Colorado Water Conservancy Act and
James Gardner, County Commissioner of Park County, representing the
County's interests. As the jurisdiction with the headwaters of the South and
Middle Platte, the concerns of Park County and its constituents focus on
following and monitoring down stream Governments and Water Entities
because what happens down stream will affect Park County and the
headwaters.

1
