<br />will look at operational strategies for meeting future Front Range and Headwater communities <br />needs to the year 2030. <br /> <br />Management: Management will be provided in several ways. First, the Water Quality & <br />Quantity Committee ("QQ") will coordinate the project on a daily level, raise funds for the study, <br />keep the records, act as the public relations contact for the media, and act as a clearinghouse for <br />public information related to the project. Second, a Management Committee, consisting of <br />governmental sponsors who have contributed either financially to the basin study, will provide <br />technical input, technical review, agency coordination, and make strategic decisions about the <br />study. Finally, the advisory committees will include State and Federal agencies, public citizens, <br />environmental and recreational groups, water users in the basin, the local ranching community, <br />water and sanitation districts, and towns in the basin. This group will provide input and expertise <br />on particular issues of interest to them. <br /> <br />Funding: The financial sponsors, Summit and Grand Counties, the Colorado River Water <br />Conservation District, and the Middle Park Water Conservancy District, Denver Water, Northern <br />Colorado Water Conservancy District, and QQ, have committed a total of$152,000 thus far. In <br />addition, Department of Local Affairs awarded $50,000 from the Smart Growth Regional <br />Partnership grant. The Management Committee has also requested a small contribution from the <br />larger in-basin water users for Phase III. The group also has received in-kind assistance from the <br />State Engineer's Office, the Water Quality Control Division, the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board, the Bureau of Reclamation, and the Colorado Division of Wildlife. <br /> <br />C:\QQ-GeneraI99\revised abstract.doc <br /> <br />2 <br />
