Strickland
Chairman, Adams County
Board of Commissioners
450 South Fourth Avenue
Brighron,CO ~l~

Community: Adams County, Colorado
Community No.: 080001
Panels Affected: 0800 1 COO 10 G
Effective Date of AUG 0 5 1999
This Revision:

102- D

Dear Mr. Strickland:

This responds ro a request that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) revise the effective
Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for Adams County, Colorado and Incorporated Areas (the effective
FIRM for your community), in accordance with Part 65.of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
regulations. In a letter dated December 9, 1998, Ms. Sheila A. Beissel, P.E., Senior Civil Engineer,
Department of Community Development, City of Westminster, requested that FEMA revise the FIRM to
show the effects of updated ropographic information and revised corporate boundaries along the southeast
edge of McKay Lake. Flood hazard and corporate boundary information along McKay Lake within the
City of Westminster is not included on the effective FIRM panels for the City. This information is shown
on effective FIRM Panel 0800 1 COO 10 G for Adams County, Colorado and Incorporated Areas, dated
August 16, 1995, for informational purposes only. As a result of this Letter of Map Revision (LOMR),
the flood hazard data along McKay Lake within the City of Westminster is now effective.

The infonnation provided by Ms. Beissel included updated corporate boundaries for areas north of West
136th Avenue. This LOMR revises the corporate boundaries along the southeast edge of McKay Lake
only. Updated corporate boundaries for all areas north of West 136th Avenue within the City will be
incorporated into the preliminary countywide FIRM and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report for Jefferson
County, which is scheduled to be distributed for review in approximately 2 months.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with letters from Ms. Beissel.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM . We
have revised the FIRM to modify the floodplain boundary delineations of the flood having a I-percent
chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along the southeast edge of McKay
Lake. As a result of the modifications, the width of the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that
would be inundated by the base flood, for the revised area decreased. The modifications are shown on the
enclosed annotated copy of FIRM Panel(s) 0800 1 COO 10 G. This LOMR hereby revises the
above-referenced panel(s) of the effective FIRM dated August 16, 1995.

Because this revision request also affects the City of Westminster, a separate LOMR for that community
was issued on the same date as this LOMR.
