Federal Emergency Management Agency Washington, D.C. 20472 CERTIFIED MAIL RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED IN REPLY REFER TO: Case No.: 01-08-353P The Honorable Marty Flaum Chairperson, Adams County Board of Commissioners 450 South Fourth Avenue Brighton, CO 80601 Community: Adams County, CO Community No.: 080001 Panel Affected: 08001C0030 G E~ective.~ate of SEP 25 2001 ThIS ReVISIon: 102-I-C Dear Mr. Flaum: This responds to a request that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) revise the effective Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for Adams County, Colorado and Incorporated Areas (the effective FIRM for your community), in accordance with Part 65 of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) regulations. In a letter dated August 7,2001, , P.E., Gillans, Inc., requested that FEMA revise the FIRM to show the effects of construction of The Haven at York subdivision project along South Wadley Creek. The project included construction of a culvert at York Street, realignment of South Wadley Creek, and channelization from its confluence with Big Dry Creek to the Union Pacific Railroad. This request follows up on a Conditional Letter of Map Revision issued on November 27,2000. All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with letters from. . .. . We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM. We have revised the FIRM to modifY the floodplain boundary delineations of the flood having a I-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along South Wadley Creek from Big Dry Creek to the Union Pacific Railroad. As a result of the modifications, the width of the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the base flood, for South Wadley Creek increased in some areas and decreased in other areas. The base flood is contained within the engineered channel along the revised reach. In addition, all increases in SFHA are contained within a drainage easement owned by the City of Thornton. The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copy of FIRM Panel 08001C0030 G. This Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) hereby revises the above-referenced panel of the effective FIRM dated August 16, 1995. Because this revision request also affects areas of the City of Thornton, a separate LOMR for that community was issued on the same date as this LOMR. The modifications are effective as of the date shown above. The map panel as listed above and as modified by this letter will be used for all flood insurance policies and renewals issued for your community.
