Good possib i lity that there will be a new employee fro m CWCB or DNR to help with <br />needs assessment and applications <br /> <br />Overall the process seems to be not much lef t for IBCC to do, less than original role, <br />comment ed that there is a huge need for IBCC to be the visionary group for Colorado — <br />complement CWCB’s role - that group is capable — not competitive or redundant — <br />believes that others concur red — understands that DNR i s hiring a new assistant director <br />in Water who will be working with IBCC to see if can provide a direction that will include <br />those types of issues — frustrating meeting at first but turned out to be productive and <br />focused efforts <br /> <br />Willow Creek Reclamation Co mmittee <br /> <br />Ali Morse intro d uc ed new Coordinator — Carishma Welch <br /> <br />Tom Schillaci — introduced media productions for watershed reclamation projects in <br />CO — may be a resource for making quick , short video presentations for projects <br /> <br />Creede — video of abandoned mine wat er contamination and underground water <br />treatment plant — available to be viewed after the meeting <br /> <br />Ali Morse -- introduced water quality issues above Creede — re mine drainage from <br />Nelson Mine and reclamation efforts of Willow Creek Project – attempts to treat before <br />exiting and polluting a river <br /> <br />Zeke Ward , WCRC Chair — discussed ways to treat discharge from Nelson Tunnel - <br />noted that the water is a water right owned by the city of Creede used for augmentation <br />plan — means water HAS to be released to the river syste m <br /> <br />Assistance for Projects from the State Contractor, CDM <br />Mike G sent out letter to a number of res ervoir companies in the Basin to ask if would <br />be willing to participate in study of reservoirs — we have a couple of major reservoirs <br />being addressed through f unding applications — wanted to know if others would be <br />willing to be assessed re condition a nd capacity, repair s, possibility of enlargements, <br />hurdles, etc. Could their operation be changed to address broader basin needs — <br />recognizing that they are privately owned — 5 reps showed up and will meet again with <br />rd <br />CDM and get a scope of work and get 3 party contractors to do this study and apply <br />for funding — helps address storage capacity in the basin — want C DOW to participate as <br />they have water rights and reservoirs — don’t know time table yet — application possibly <br />at September meeting <br /> <br />7. Roundtable Assistance to Potential Applicant s for Funding from SB 179 <br />Travis Smith was voted the new Chair of CWCB at March meeting.
