10 ) B eyond 2030, growing demands may require solutions that are more aggressive <br /> <br />Technical “tasks” outlined in HB1177 for our Basin to work on : <br />(in cooperation with the on - going SWSI) <br /> <br />1) Develop basin - wide consumptive water s upply needs <br />2) Develop basin - wide non - consumptive water supply needs <br /> - such as recreation and environment <br />3) C onduct analysis of available un - appropriated waters within the basin <br />4) P ropose projects or methods, both structural and nonstructural for meet ing <br />consumptive and no n - consumptive needs and u tilizing any un - appropriated water s <br />( where and if availabl e ) <br /> <br />Travis Smith pointed out that #’s 1 & 2 are doable for Rio Grande Basin, but # 3&4 are <br />not really acheiveable in RG due to there being no un - approp riated water in this <br /> <br />Tracy Bouvette pointed out the potential for ag conservation met hodology can possibly <br />be useful - can look at other basins who are dealing with similar issues for idea s <br /> <br />Rick warned us to beware of techniques that increase “efficiency ” while also increasing <br />consumptive use . <br /> <br />SWSI Phase 2 Technical Round table Process: <br /> <br />Water Efficie ncy <br />Alternatives to P ermanent Ag Dry up <br />Prioriti ze and Quantify Recreation and Environmental <br /> <br />Addressing the G ap - I ncluding Alternatives <br /> <br />Discussion of wor kgroup products <br />Input from SWSI Basin R o undtables <br /> <br />Funding options <br />Project Concepts - Multi - Use projects <br /> <br />Report to CWCB and Interbasin Compact Committees <br /> <br />Goal is to devel op consensus and recommendations and highlight benefits and <br />limitations <br /> <br />Good News: <br /> <br />HB1400 - establishes a permanent position for IBCC Di rector in Gov ernor ’s office <br /> - establishes coordinator <br /> - provides funds for Basin R ound T able s <br /> Page 4 of 6 RGBRT Minutes <br /> <br /> May 9 , 2006 <br />
