<br />Mike G moved on to review of the law’s criteria which are very broad <br />Jason - gave example of <br />Ray — threw out question of using state $ as non - federal cost share for matching funds <br />for federal funds <br />Mike G. – <br />Fred — would like to see some land retired – can we do a study on the process of highly <br />erodible land retirement? <br />Travis - thinks funds need to be limited to water activities <br />Mike G - does retirement of land and associated water rights qualiy? <br />Allan Brown - seems to fit under non - structural <br />Ray — is this interpreted broadly enough? <br />Further discussion <br />- want money to be eligible for non - federal cost share <br />- want money to be eligible for activities that help restore aquifer including <br />purchase of land and water rights under t he right circumstances and approval of <br />RGBRT <br /> <br />John S. - discussed a reservoir project on the Alamosa for flood control, sediment <br />settling, etc. <br /> <br />Fred B. — is there potential for Rio Grande to flood and damage Alamosa <br />YES! — 1911 it flowed at 20,000 ft in a fall storm <br />What can be done? <br /> <br />Need specific defini tion of water activities <br />Ray — much of this is related to our needs assessment and in our case the need to <br />reduce pumping would fit <br />Steve — have everyone come up with every legitimate idea to be submitted and get <br />a s many ideas as possible on the table! <br /> <br /> Page 5 of 11 RGBRT <br />Minutes <br /> <br /> June 12 , 2006 <br />
