Federal Emergency Management Agency
Washington, D.C. 20472

MAY 2 6 1998

IN REPLY REFER TO CASE NO. 98-08-266A
Community: Montezuma County, Colorado
Community No.: 080285
Map Panel Affected: 0090 B
Map Effective Date: May 4, 1989
218-70-NS

Dear "'\:a

We reviewed your request dated April 6, 1998, for a Letter of Map Amendment. All required information for
this request was received on May 7, 1998. Using the information submitted and the effective National Flood
Insurance Program (NFIP) map, we determined the structure on the property described below is in a Special
Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the flood having a I-percent chance of being
equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood). The structure, as shown on the effective NFIP map,
remains in the SFHA designated Zone AE.

Property Description: A portion of Sections 14 and 15, TownshIp 38 North, Range 14 West, New
Mexico Principal Meridian, as described in the Warranty Deed recorded in
Book 642, Pages 394 and 395, in the Office of the Recorder, Montezuma
County, Colorado

Street Address: 23520 Highway 145

Flooding Source: Dolores River

The elevation of the lowest adjacent grade to a structure (the lowest ground touching the structure) must be at
or above the base flood elevation (BFE) for the structure to be outside the SFHA. Because the elevation of the
lowest adjacent grade to the structure, 7,271.0 feet, is lower than the BFE, 7,271.8 feet, the structure is within
the SFHA. These elevations are referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.

This determination is based on the flood data presently available. The enclosed document provides additional
information about your options for obtaining a Letter of Map Amendment. If you have any questions about this
letter, please contact Mr. Michael Grimm of our staff in Washington, DC, either by telephone at (202) 646-2878
or by facsimile at (202) 646-4596.

Sincerely,

'\~~.
