Federal Emergency Management Agency
Washington, D.C. 20472

JUN 252003

LETTER OF MAP AMENDMENT
218-70-NS

Community: La Plata County, CO
Community No.: 080097
Map Panel Affected: 0800970384C
Map Effective Date: May 21, 2001

IN REPLY REFER TO CASE NO.: 03-08-0430A

We reviewed a request dated May 16, 2003, for a Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA). All required information for this
request was received on May 16,2003. Using the information submitted and the effective National Flood Insurance
Program (NFIP) map, we determined that the structure on the property described below is shown outside the Special
Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) on the current NFIP map. However, based upon natural topographic elevations, the structure
would be inundated by the base flood. Therefore, this letter amends the above referenced NFIP map to include the
structure in the SFHA, designated Zone A 7. The SFHA is the area that would be inundated by a flood having a I-percent
chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood).

Property Description:

Lot 6, Gangwisch and Sutherland Subdivision, as described in the Quit Claim Deed
recorded as Instrument No. 647985, in the Office of the Recorder, La Plata County,
Colorado

Street Address:

2173 County Road 250

Flooding Source:

Animas River

The elevation of the lowest adj acent grade to the structure (the lowest ground touching the structure) must be at or above
the base flood elevation for the stmcture to be outside the SFHA. Because the elevation of the lowest adj acent grade to
the structure, 6548.9 feet, is lower than the base flood elevation, 6551.3 feet, the structure is within the SFHA.
Therefore, flood insurance is required. These elevations are referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.

This determination is based on the flood data presently available. The enclosed document provides additional
information about your options for obtaining a LOMA.
