Therefore, all water to the tank would have to come from the existing water
treatment plant where the pressure against the pumps is approximately 100 psi. The maximum
capacity available for filling the tank would then be the capacity of the existing water treatment plant,
or 32 gpm.

In this Altemate the District would replace existing undersized water distributions pipelines from the
proposed water treatment plant to the storage tanks. This would involve replacing approximately
3,200 feet with a new 4" diameter minimum pipeline. The capacity of the new water treatment plant
in excess of 50 gpm (14 gpm at minimum plant capacity) could then be pumped to the tanks. Total
capacity available for filling the tanks would then be 46 gpm, of which 32 gpm would be provided by
the existing water treatment plant. The replacement of such undersized pipelines has been included
in the cost for this altemate.

This altemate assumes that the output from the water treatment plant will enter the existing
distribution system at the Crescent Lake/Powelson Reservoir location and be distributed through the
replaced lines, as well as the existing piping. Three phase power will be required because of the
total power requirements of the raw water pumping station, treatment facility, and potable water
pump station.

Estimated storage capacity, delivery capacity of the system, along with our opinion of probable
design and construction costs, and our opinion of probable project budget costs are given in the
following table:

Alternate B: Enlarge Crescent Lake and Build a New Water Treatment Plant

Storage (acre-ft) Output (gpm) Components Costs $/acre-ft
Mechanical:
-new WTP $ 495,000
-rehabilitation of diversion
structure/fill line $ 20,000
-extend three-phase power to $ 25,000
site
Pipeline Replacement $ 220,000
Earthwork/Dam: $ 495,000
18 50 Total: $1,255,000 $69,700

5
