Colorado Water for the 21st Century
Metro Roundtable - Meeting Minutes

August 16, 2006 4:00 - 6:40 PM
Douglas County Fairgrounds and Events Center

Doug Scott chaired the meeting. Minutes of the July 11 meeting were approved.

Phyliss Thomas, a University of Phoenix doctoral student, asked for ongoing
assistance with her dissertation study concerning collaboration and trust.
Numerous members individually agreed to participate.

Rick Brown and Kelly DiNatale gave a power point presentation of the "Water
Supply and Needs Report Refinement" pursuant to the Statewide Water Supply
Initiative (SWSI).

There was discussion of a potential "gallons per capita per day" standard that
might be used in future state-wide water supply planning. This matter may be
discussed in greater detail at the September meeting.

Eric Hecox reported that various roundtables are planning to use SWSI
conclusions as the "needs assessments" for their basins. The Arkansas basin is
conducting a more detailed independent study.

Kelly DiNatale will inquire whether status reports on current and planned
municipal water supply projects can be released without confidentiality
restrictions for several major water providers in the Denver metropolitan area.

Matthew Sares, Deputy Director of the Colorado Geological Survey gave a
presentation on potential aquifer storage opportunities around the state. SB-193
requires the CWCB to identify specific sites for aquifer storage in the Arkansas
and South Platte River basins, with completion of this study due by March 1,
2007. CWCB staff is preparing a scope of work for this project and John
Hendrick will be a representative of the Metro Roundtable for assistance with
development of this scope.

Materials concerning SB-179 funds, entitled "Water Supply Reserve Account
Criteria and Guidelines", were distributed to the delegates in attendance.

For HB-1400, the CWCB and a sub-committee from the IBCC will evaluate
proposals from potential contractors to support study requests from roundtables.

The next meeting will be on September 13 at Centennial.

Prepared by: Gary Thompson - September 8, 2006

Page I of 1
