Transfer of the storage right to another existing or potential reservoir location.
3. Provide additional storage capacity at the existing Overland Fteservoir.

Alternative No. 1

This alternative was considered unacceptable because the service area is experiencing increased
water demands, there are currently potential water users that can put the additional storage water to
productive beneficial use and failure to store the conditional water rights will result in their
abandonment.

Alternative No.2

In 2002 and 2003, the North Forlc Water Conservancy District commissioned studies that examined a
number of potential storage sites in the Leroux Creelc drainage basin including both expansion of
existing facilities and construction of new facilities. Those studies included four potential proj ects in
which the 971 acre-feet of the currently un-stored conditional water right could be stored - Dulce
Basin, Leroux Creelc, O'Brien and West Fteservoir. Following is a summary ofthe results ofthese
studies:

SUMMARY OF P RO.JECT WATER UNIT COSTS

$25,000.00

I ~~"
~
~
...
;
I
I
Hl

$15,000.00

$10,000.00

$5,000.00

1

$0.00

o

1000

2000 3000 4000
RESERVOIR CAPACITY (ACRE FEET)

5000

6000

-----LEROUXCREEK
x WEST RESERVOIR ENLARGEMENT
c GRAY
__ MIDDLE CREEK

- - - - DUKE BASIN
o WEST RESERVOIR DOWNSTREAM
---+-- DOUGH1Y
.
