The Sheek Ditch Company (CompalJ.Y; anages the S ek Ditch (th Ditch) for the benefit of the
Members as an association ~f/QVI1fIers of water rig s and lands s rved by the Ditch. Irrigation
water is diverted fro e ncos River, southwest f the Town of M cos in Montezuma County
Colorado, and arried in the Ditch to the cre Member se ice area. The Ditch is
approximately 9,000 et in length, serve 17 embers and carri s a maximum flow of

The Company is a non-profit corporation registered in the tate of Colorado. There are 17
Members in the Company. The Company has the power assess the Members for operations,
maintenance and administrative costs. The Members ha entered into a Funding Agreement
with the Company for repayment of the loan that will be u ed to finance Project costs. All of the
Member's irrigation water will be carried in the pipeline a d the loan repayment will be shared
by the Members in proportion to the maximum adjudicat d water flow in cubic feet per second
(cfs) to be carried on behalf of each Member. The Tota of the Member's adjudicated water flow
rate is 9.3 cfs. The Company Articles of Incorporation, y-Iaws and Funding Agreement are
included in Appendix A.

Irrigated acreage within the service area is prima Iy used for cattle ranching and to grow hay.
Hay crop is used as cattle feed, or is sold. A ma showing the existing ditch and proposed
route of the project is included in this packet.

Hydrology and Water Rights

The source of water for the Ditch is d' ect low water rights out of the Mancos River. The water
diverted at the head gate consists of 15 judicated rights with dates of appropriation ranging
from 1878 to 1890 and totaling 9.3 cfs us 11 rights to storage water in the Jackson Gulch
Reservoir that are used mostly to supplement the adjudicated rights late in the irrigation season.
Records of the State Engineeros Office indicate that total average annual diversions are 1,781
acre-feet, for years 1974 through 2002, and that the maximum diversion was 2863 A-F in 1975.
The maximum diversion rate was 21.0 cfs for the year 1991. A summary of water rights and the
State Engineer Diversion records for 1974-2002 are found in Appendix B.
