of the service area.

The Sheek Ditch is approximately 19,000 feet long and serves 17

water users. It carries approximately 9.3cfs of adjudicated and storage water from the Mancos
River to the Members. There are significant losses of water to seepage, evaporation and to
vegetation. Members desire to place the Ditch in a pipeline in order to reduce water losses and
produce some pressure for on-farm improvements. Please provide a brief narrative description of the proposed project including purpose, need,
facilities, type of water uses to be served and service area. Attach separate sheet, if needed.
The Mancos Valley has been included in a Salinity Control Area. NRCS will design
the pipeline project to eliminate seepages that leach salt from the underlying Mancos Shale into
the Mancos River. NRCS will pay for 75% of the Pipeline cost. The water users on the Bolen
Ditch must pay the remaining 25% of the cost. The benefits to the water users include
reduction in water losses, production of some pressure in the pipeline and eliminate ditch
maintenance. Water in the Bolen Ditch is used for irrigation and for livestock water. See the
Feasibility Study.
