Flood attenuation benefits properties above the Larimer and Weld Canal while reducing the size and cost of the diversion structure. The East Vine Diversion eliminates the complications with changing the confluence and potential flood increases with the Cache la Poudre River. The East Vine Diversion also provides additional flexibility as a component that can be used to aid with removing stormwater from the local Dry Creek basin to the north of Fort Collins.
