The source of the flooding <br />problems originates on the Pawnee Creek watershed. The Pawnee Creek <br />Basin and Floodplain has major flood events in June 1935, June 1965, <br />and July 1997. These flood events have cause over 50 millions in flood <br />losses and the loss of human life. The project basically consists of <br />improving existing conveyance facilities through U.S. Highway No.6 <br />and Union Pacific Railroad bridges and culverts, and bridge crossings, <br />and it includes construction of new channels and levees systems.
