These included:

Alternate A - Reconstruct the existing spillway on the south side of the reservoir to
a width of 50 feet and lower the spillway crest roughly 14 feet. Leave a remnant
reservoir pool to control sedimentation and icing condition problems during water
diversions.

Alternate B - Construct a 50-foot wide overflow channel through the existing dam.
Leave a remnant reservoir pool to control sedimentation and icing conditions during
water diversion. Construct a berm below the dam to redirect flow back into the
existing stream channel near the south side of the valley.

Alternate C - Remove a section of the dam to the historic streambed level, with a
50-foot wide channel. Construct a new diversion dam near the original dam, with a
sand sluice gate and a new ditch diversion headgate. Construct a berm below the
dam to redirect flow back into the existing stream channel near the south side of
the valley.

Alternate D - This alternative is similar to Alternate B, with overflow channel drop
structure designed to meet City of Colorado Springs! EI Paso County's Urban
Drainage and Flood Control standards, which includes widening the channel and
drop to 150 feet. Leave a remnant reservoir pool to control sedimentation and icing
conditions during water diversion. The project would include a berm constructed
below the dam to redirect flow back into the existing stream channel near the south
side of the valley.

Alternate E - Construct a 50-foot wide overflow channel through the existing dam.
Leave a remnant reservoir pool to control sedimentation and icing conditions during
water diversion. Construct a berm below the dam to redirect flow back into the
existing stream channel near the south side of the valley. Avoid the wetlands and
the existing turnout structure.

Alternate F - This alternate is similar to Alternate A. Reconstruct the existing
spillway on the south side of the reservoir to a width of 30 feet and lower the
spillway crest roughly 12.5 feet. Leave a remnant reservoir pool to control
sedimentation and icing condition problems during water diversions.

25
