I Project Type: Pipe Replacement <br />I <br /> <br />The Orchard Mesa Irrigation District was orgaJized in 1904 and became a part of the <br />Federal Grand Valley Project in 1922 and opera~es under the 1921 Irrigation Act. The <br />District is located in Mesa County near the to~ of Palisade along the Colorado River. <br />The Stokes Gulch Siphon was constructed in the 1920's and is in need of repair. The <br />I <br />Siphon and Power Canal are owned and operatfd by the District for the conveyance of <br />water for power generation and irrigation. The Siphon is located two miles east of <br />I <br />Palisade along US 6. This project involves replrcing the existing Stokes Siphon with 300 <br />feet of 12-ft. x 12-ft. pre-cast concrete box culve~t and 100 feet of channel reconstruction. <br />The project was bid in October 2006 with only ~ne Contractor submitting a bid. That <br />bid has been rejected by the District, based on the fact that is was $250,000 more then the <br />engineer's estimate. The District has re-bid the I project and has awarded the <br />construction contract to PCI Construction for $6.!49,OOO. Given time constraints to <br />complete the project prior to the 2007 irrigation ~eason, the District has elected to <br />I <br />commence construction in October of 2007. Th~ District may ask for a loan increase to <br />cover the additional construction costs. i <br />I <br />6. I Project Type: Ditch Rehabilitation <br />i <br /> <br />LPCDC, a Colorado mutual ditch company, protides irrigation water to a 500-acre <br />service area in Lincoln Park, immediately south knd adjacent to Canon City, in <br />unincorporated Fremont County. There are 362! shareholders and 3,675 shares of stock. <br />I <br />The irrigated acreage in the service area is primarily residential lawns and gardens, <br />hobby farms and pastures. Typical lot and tract ~izes are 0.25 to 5+ acres. LPCDC has <br />several senior water rights and diverts from the Arkansas River through the South <br />I <br />Canon Ditch. The LPCDC ditch system has several branches totaling 62,220 lineal feet <br />(If) or about 11.8 miles in length. The ditch consi~ts of 29,075 If of 36"and 8,540 If of 24" <br />of concrete pipe, 16,085lf of 18" concrete/pVC pi~e, and 8520 lf of open ditch.
