<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />Numerous CWCB employees and other members of the Colorado Association of <br />I <br />Stormwater and Floodplain Managers (CASFM) assisted FEMA with various activities <br />and presentations throughout the conferenc~. As CASFM chair, Tom Browning <br />provided an overview of CASFM and the vatious other state floodplain chapters, and <br />how they can assist others with flood prepar~dness and mitigation. Kevin Houck <br />I <br />provided two workshops on Letters of Map q:hange (tools to change floodplain maps), <br />taught a review Course for the Certified Flooqplain Managers Exam (which was taken by <br />9 professionals from Colorado), and led one of two field trips hosted by CASFM. Dawn <br />Gladwell and Thuy Patton assisted with runn'ing the CASFM booth during the vendor <br />fair. The conference was attended by over 709 professionals from around the country, <br />and the involvement of CWCB staff helped ptovide a positive impression of floodplain <br />I <br />management in Colorado. I <br /> <br />i <br />Statewide Flood Threat Bulletin Back Online for the 2007 Flood Season: <br />I <br />Following the enormous success of the State~de Flood Threat Bulletin pilot project <br />from the 2006 season, the program has returnea for another year. Once again, HDR <br />Hydromet Services will provide daily flood th~eat outlooks for interested users. The <br />services will initially be the same as last year, ~ut various programmatic improvements <br />will be implemented on an ongoing basis throq.ghout the season. HDR will provide <br />daily outlooks regarding the flood threat arourld the state due to either snowmelt or <br />I <br />rainfall. In addition, a GIS summary of precipitation from the previous report is <br />available to view which areas of the state recei~ed the most precipitation (useful for both <br />water managers and floodplain managers). Tw~ce weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, a <br />medium-range outlook will be issued summarizing the anticipated flood threat for the <br />following two weeks. The information is hosted on HDR's server, and can be accessed <br />at htt :' www.hdrweather.com cwcb cwcbinfotmation.htrn and a link is provided on <br />the CWCB webpage. In the coming weeks, an einaillistserve will be used to disseminate <br />the information directly to interested users. Anyone interested in being on this listserve <br />should contact Kevin Houck, the CWCB project manager. <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />Arkansas Riv~r Basin <br />I <br /> <br />Arkansas Valley Conduit: Since CWCB loan a~proval in November 2006, the <br />Conduit Committee (A VC) has been meeting moAthly and has focused on lobbying <br />efforts to further legislation and appropriations, Jutreach efforts to participant <br />governing bodies, water allocation for the conduit, and grant applications. In January <br />2007, A VC members met with the Colorado deleg~tion in Washington, D.C.
