I

I
I

Proiect Status I
The Project study team is in the midst of completing the FR/FIS and hopes to receive a Record of Decision (ROD)
from the Assistant Secretary of the Army during early 2009.1 Regular coordination and progress meetings are well
attended, and project interests have been steadfast in thcrir determination to achieve a successful outcome.
Following the issuance of a ROD, mitigation work and revis~ons to the reservoir operating manual will need to be
completed before water can be stored in the reallocated space)

Proiect Support I
The Project enjoys broad support from a strong coalition of u~stream, in stream, and downstream interests as well as
from all nine members of Colorado's Congressional Delegation. Additionally, a Senate Joint Resolution (SJR07-
o 1 9) was sponsored by numerous members of the Color~do General Assembly supporting the Project. For
I
information purposes, the coalition currently consists of:

~,

.

Attachment

Upstream: Town of Castle Rock, Castle Pines Metro District, Castle Pines North Metro District, Centennial
Water and Sanitation District, Center of Colorado Water I Conservancy District, Colorado State Parks, Denver
Botanic Gardens, Parker Water and Sanitation District, Perry Park Country Club, Roxborough Metropolitan
District, and South Metro Water Supply Authority I
I
Downstream: City of Aurora, City of Brighton, Central iColorado Water Conservancy District, and Western
Mutual Ditch Company I

Instream: City and County of Denver, Denver Water, The Greenway Foundation, City of Littleton, and Metro
Wastewater Reclamation District I

I
Other Support: Colorado Division of Wildlife, Douglas qounty Board of Commissioners, South Platte Basin
Roundtable, Denver Metro Roundtable, Urban Drainage ~ Flood Control District, Audubon Society of Greater
Denver, and Trout Unlimited. I
i

The Board has been instrumental over the past few years ih supporting the Project and has demonstrated its
unilateral willingness to advocate the goals and financial n~eds of the reallocation effort. Staff now seeks an
I
adopted resolution by the CWCB as an official record of support for the Project that can be used to assist the study
team in obtaining additional federal funds along with continued~ assistance from the Corps leadership.
I

Staff Recommendation I
Staff recommends that the Board adopt the attached CW<tB resolution supporting the Chatfield Reservoir
Reallocation Project within the South Platte River Basin, and in'struct Staff to appropriately distribute the resolution
for its intended purposes. i

I
I

I
I

.

Fl~d P<O',,",oo · W"'~ P<oj,~ Pl,oo!"" .od FiO.J . s~,<o .od '-'., P<oremoo
Water Supply Protection.
