81/18/1996 15:28
~

9788274849

MINTURN

PAGE 83

..

It is our intent to store a portion of the Town's municipal decreed water in
Bolts lake by pumping from our existing point of diversion on Cross Creek to the
Bolts Ditch. Pumping from the existing diversion point will avoid an upstream
movement of the point of diversion thereby insuring no injury of the ewests in-
stream flow right on Cross Creek. Our primary diversion supply will continue to
course through our existing treatment plant. Regarding our pumping program to
fill the reservoir, we plan to complete our filling operations during the spring
flood period. We will be able to replenish any prior year releases within a few
weeks, or at most a couple of months. Our pumping program normally will
commence in June to coincide with flood waters and ~e completed in July. Any
storage water not used in anyone year would be held over for use in the
following year.

Only a portion of the Town's municipal demand will flow through Bolts
Lake. We plan to continue, operating our treatment plant on Cross Creek from
our existing point of diversion. Bolts Lake will be used to supplement our
domestic supply in low flow periods (February-March), to the extent needed.
This sort of operations should have a positive effect upon the CWCS minimum
stream rights.

Best regards,

--

.__.~
C~. ~
~... ~ .---
Richard Dangle
Town Manager
