(Please see attached <br />project description and map.) . <br /> <br />BackQround <br />This study and project are of regional concern. The purpose is to resolve water supply issues <br />within a 120 square mile area in the Arkansas basin. The proposed reservoir would provide water <br />to the City of Florence, the Towns of Coal" Creek, Williamsburg and Rockvale, the East Florence <br />Water association, and the Federal Prisona't -Florence with a combined population of '8,300. The <br />preliminary cost estimate for the 2250 ac-ft Oak Creek Reservoir is $4.2 million, and construction <br />is tentatively scheduled within the next 3 to 5 years. The Feasibility Study has significant potential <br />to result in a loan form the Construction Fund or the Severance Tax Perpetual Base Account. The <br />guideline. in this category of non-reimbursable investment is to fund up to the full requested <br />amount. <br /> <br />The City of Florence (and other entities in the service area) is in the municipal low-income <br />category. <br /> <br />To date about $40K has been spent buy the City to complete preliminary reconnaissance and <br />engineering evaluation on this project. These preliminary studies help form the basis for this <br />Feasibility Study. <br /> <br />Flood Protection · Water Project Planning and Financing.
