The Sear-Brown Group reviewed the 1-25 Corridor Master Drainage Plan
Godding Hollotiv and Tri-Town Basins South Weld Counry report and verified that
the hydrologic values derived within the report appear to be representative of the
Tri-Town Basin. From the table of hydrologic values above, the following
conclusions can be drawn:
1. The existing condition 100 year hydrology will yield the greatest amount
of storm water runoff that the regional detention pond will experience.
2. Basins 62 and 91 are mostly developed today. These basins will contribute
the majority of undetained storm water runoff that enters the regional
detention pond now and in the future.
3. As basins 61, 63, 92, 93, and 94 develop and utilize the current localized
detention pond release criteria, hydrologic contributions to the regional
detention pond will be reduced.
C. Field Investigations
On July 29, 1999, Kevin Gingery and Russell Dahlgren visited the Tri-Town Basin
to observe the basin topography, basin hydrologic features, locations and
conditions of existing crossings and drainageway structures, and locations of
adjacent residential and commercial buildings. The existing storm drainage
infrastructure, as noted within Figure 5 on the following page, was observed to be
in place as documented by Anderson Consulting Engineers, Inc., clear of debris,
and available to receive what storm water runoff they were capable of handling.
The basin topography slopes as indicated within Figure 2. Between Weld County
Road 13 and the communities of Frederick, Evanston, and Firestone, the
abandoned Union Pacific Railroad embankment exists. The railroad tracks have
been removed, but large quantities of earthen embankment remain. The existing
Tri-Town Drainageway is located between the railroad embank.ment and the
residential homes. The Tri-Town Drainageway varies in shape, depth, and side
slopes along the communities of Frederick, Evanston, and Firestone. Upstream
(south) of Frederick, the Tri-Town Drainagway is not well defined as it traverses
existin farm land upstream to State Highway 52. The Tri-Town Drainageway
does no continue upstream of State Highway 52. It appears from the preliminary
design presented later in this report that excess earthen soil is available from the
proposed regional detention pond site to construct the regional detention pond
embankment. Other construction materials such as riprap and concrete will need
to be imported to the project site.
13
