Project Description
Three alternatives were analyzed in the feasibility study:

1. No Action
2. Replace the main trestle ($35,000)
3. Replace all 3 trestles($67,Ooo}

Alternative 2, Replace the main trestle ($35,000), would solve the majority of the
problems, but would leave the Company to deal with the high maintenance costs of the 2
remaining trestles. Alternative 3, Replace al/3 trestles ($67,000), would complete all
needed improvements at this time. This alternative is feasible and is considered the
preferred alternative by the Company. The no-action alternative was considered
unacceptable since it would leave the Company to deal with the high maintenance costs
and water loss associated with the deteriorated trestles.

Selected Alternative

Selected Alternative 3 consists of replacing 3 existing trestles with 3 separate sections of
buried siphon pipeline with a combined total length of 566 feet. The siphons would be
constructed of 80 psi rated PVC, and include engineered inlet and outlet structures. The
pipe size would vary between 24 and 36 inches depending upon position along the canal
and other design factors, and would be capable of carrying the Company's water right

The Salida Field Office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has
prepared a Preliminary Engineering Report.
