Feasibi.1ity of Construction
of the
Rothe Augmentation Project

Project Sponsor

Mildred Rothe is the owner of a private farm located in
Northeastern Colorado. The Rothe farm has approximately 9000
total acres. The farm has over 5300 acres of sprinkler and flood
irrigated farm ground. The ground is irrigated with 17 tributary
groundwater wells and direct flow water out of several different
ditch companies. The wells pump on average 4800 acre-feet of
water annually. The water is typically used to irrigate corn,
alfalfa, beans, and wheat. The 17 wells are currently augmented
under the Groundwater Appropriators of the South Platte (GASP)
plan of operation, see Appendix A for 2002 GASP records.

Project Service Area

The service area, or the Rothe farm, is located in Morgan and
Weld Counties, approximately 6 miles North of Wiggins, Colorado.
The Rothe farm is located on both the South and North sides of
the South Platte River. The 9000 acres of the farm are located
across several different sections of land. See the map on page 3.

Feasibility Study
Rothe Aug Project
July 2003

1
