Dan McAuliffe <br />Mike Serlet, P.E., Chief, Water Supply Planning and Finance S~ffu" 0"",,,,, <br /> <br />January 24, 2000 /'1- <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Agenda Item 10 c., January 26-27, 2000 Board Meeting _ Water <br />Supply Planning and Finance - New Loans - Weld County Tri-Area <br />Sanitation District - Stormwater Detention Facility <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />The Weld County Tri-Area Sanitation District (WCTASD) of Frederick, acting by and <br />through its storm water enterprise fund, is applying for a loan of $730,000 for the purpose <br />of constructing a storm water detention facility to alleviate flooding problems in the <br />. towns of Firestone and Frederick and the unincorporated community of Evanston. <br /> <br />Please see the attached project summary and map and a letter from Anthony Onorato, the <br />President of the District.. Also attached are letters of support for the proj ect from the <br />towns of Firestone and Frederick. <br /> <br />Backeround <br /> <br />The Tri-Town drainage basin is situated in the southwest comer of Weld County and <br />includes the towns ofDacono, Firestone and Frederick and the unincorporated <br />community of Evanston. The basin is primarily rural at the present time but urbanization <br />is taking place in and around the four communities. <br /> <br />Drainage of storm runoff occurs through a man-made drainageway that runs north from <br />near Dacono then east along the south side of Frederick and north along Weld County <br />Road 13 on the east side of Frederick, Evanston and Firestone. The drainageway is a <br />small earthen channel with the capacity to convey the 2-year to 1 a-year storm event <br />runoff. <br />
