Across the Dam Crest <br />Project Complete <br /> <br />Proiect Description <br /> <br />On May 2, 1998 a portion of the dam failed unexpectedly along the right abutment, releasing <br />approximately 500 acre-feet of water down Leroux Creek, damaging several bridges and irrigation <br />structures and also killing a number of livestock. The $1,600,000 dam rehabilitation project <br />included maintaining the existing 55-ft. dam height, reconstructing the dam failure area, widening <br />the crest from l2-ft. to l6-ft., steepen the side slope from 2.5:1 to 1:1, placing rip rap protection <br />along the upstream face of the dam, installing a new toe drain and drainage blanket, constructing a <br />new 24-inch outlet structure, and reconstructing the spillway to safely pass the Probable Maximum <br />Flood. <br /> <br />Proiect Data <br /> <br />Sponsor: Leroux Creek Water Users <br /> <br />County: Delta <br /> <br />Water Source: Leroux Creek <br /> <br />Terms of Loan: $1,450,000 @ 3.75% for 30-years Substantial Completion Date: Nov. 1,2000 <br /> <br />Design Engineer: Smith Geotechnical, - Fort Collins, Colorado <br /> <br />Construction Contractor: Zak Dirt, Inc. - Longmont, Colorado <br /> <br />Design Criteria: Peak spillway discharge = 2,475 cfs <br />Reservoir capacity = 920 acre-feet <br />30" outlet peak discharge = 108 cfs <br /> <br />Upper basin area = 1.21 sq. miles <br />24" outlet peak discharge = 25 cfs <br />Spillway length = 138-ft. <br /> <br />Annual Volume of Water Delivered by the Project: 920 acre-feet <br />
