The LaPlata County Office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is preparing /' engineering designs and cost estimates for the project. Conceptual plans as prepared by the NRCS will be submitted as soon as they become available. The estimated cost of the construction is $172,903.00. The cost breakdown is summarized in Table 1. Cost Estimate The third alternative is to replace the existing siphon with 30 inch PVC pipe. The estimated cost for this alternative is $217,000. Table 1 shows the break down of cost associated with this alternative. Table 1. Implementation Schedule Appendix C. provides an implementation schedule for Alternative 3. It is anticipated that the work on the siphon will be initiated in September or October of 2003. The initiation of construction could possibly be expedited because of the water shortage anticipated for the 2003 irrigation season. Other factors that will determine the start of construction include 1) available funding and 2) completion of the construction geological survey and designs.
