The <br />estimated total cost of the raw water portion of the project is $2,711,805. The project is part of a larger <br />Drought Mitigation Project (DMP), that also includes expanding the existing water treatment facility and <br />replacing distribution lines. The total project cost is $3,109,100. Please see the attached project <br />summary and map. <br /> <br />Backaround <br /> <br />PSWD is located approximately 11 miles east of Estes Park, and encompasses approximately 700 <br />acres. They provide water to 268 taps (266 households and two businesses) with a projected total <br />of 350 taps at planned build-out (estimated to occur in 2015). PSWD draws surface water from the <br />Little Thompson River and processes this water for domestic consumption with a micro-filtration <br />plant. The distribution system consists of four (4) storage tanks with a total capacity of 1.2 million <br />gallons of treated water, and approximately 10 miles of pipeline and four (4) pumping facilities. <br />There are 3 pressure zones in the system to cover an elevation range of 600 feet. PSWD has no <br />raw water storage. They also have several wells that have been used in the past, but are now <br />taken off line due to low capacity and high operating expense. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />PSWD has been severely impacted by water shortage during the past several years.
