WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

The application of Study results to land use planning could take many forms and result in many
actions. These may include:

· Development of more specific criteria for the evaluation of water quality and water quantity
for developments in the mountainous portions of the County.

Inventory of the number of existing and potential wells in the area of a development or
possible requirements for site-specific geologic and hydrogeologic assessments for large
developments.

· Development of minimum lot sizes and maximum density levels.

· Implementation of county standards for well and septic spacing between adjacent lots.

Currently the County Health Department has standards for the spacing of well and septic
on an individual lot, but not from one lot to another.

.
'.

Requests for changes in the methods and the level of input provided by the S!ate Engineer's
Office with respect to water quantity. .

Work with the State to develop better criteria to evaluate well spacing and potential
interferences in fractured rock aquifers.

· Provide incentives or other methods of improving the operation and maintenance of
individual sewage disposal systems.

- Some method of increasing the level of awareness regarding and implementation of routine
pumping and maintenance of individual sewage disposal systems.

· Development of methods and incentives for implementing centralized water supply and
wastewater treatment systems.

Provide better management of the groundwater resource,

Insure reliable sources of water to the residents of an area, and

Reduce basin-wide impacts on water quality.

MGWRS Water Study Report

Page 3
