The <br />$200,000 loan was for the replacement of the Company's 32-inch steel siphon. <br /> <br />The Pine River-Bayfield Ditch Company is requesting (see attached letter), an increase of <br />$30,000 to the Company's 2003 authorization of $200,000, for a new total amended loan amount of <br />$230,000. The requested loan increase is due to higher construction costs that have occurred since the <br />May 2003 board meeting. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Pine River-Bayfield Ditch Company provides irrigation water to a 2,596 acre service area, <br />generally located south of the Town of Bayfield, in La Plata County. The service area includes tribal1ands <br />of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, the largest shareholder on the ditch and typical shareholder acreages <br />ranging from 10-20 acres to 200:-300 acres farms. The total number of shareholders is 51. The Company's <br />ditch system is comprised of a 2,300 foot steel siphon and 10.5 miles of unlined ditch, with 60-70 <br />headgates. <br /> <br />Flood Protection · Water Supply Planning and Finance.
