<br />I) Contact Local Officials and Others <br />1) Transmit letters to local officials regarding the proposed designation action <br />2) Meet with local officials if necessary or if requested <br />3) Discuss technical issues and answer questions regarding designation process <br /> <br />II) Technical Review <br />1) Research history of floodplain information <br />2) Review previous resolutions related to the area of interest <br />3) Perform engineering and technical review <br />4) Correct technical errors or recommend map revision when necessary <br />5) Develop new hydrologic information for approximate (Zone A) floodplains <br /> <br />III) Report Preparation and Formal Designation <br />1) Complete floodplain information report (or hydrology addendum) <br />2) Draft and finalize floodplain resolution for Board approval <br />3) Write memo for Board meeting <br /> <br />IV) Follow-Up Activities <br />1) Prepare transmittal letter to the affected communities <br />2) Attend public meetings or meetings with local staff when requested <br />3) Complete filing activities, update tracking sheets, and revise floodplain database <br /> <br />Status Report <br />Figure 1 (see attached) provides a graphical representation of the floodplain designation actions <br />from 1967 to the present time. <br /> <br />As of the May 2002 Board meeting, there are a cumulative total of 564 floodplain resolutions <br />approved out of 609 total floodplain studies in the CWCB's floodplain information library. <br />Therefore, there are 45 floodplain studies remaining to be reviewed and designated during <br />future Board meetings. Table 1 provides a list of the undesignated floodplain studies by major <br />river basin.
