On December 13, 1977, the results of the study were presented at a final coordination
meeting, which was attended by representatives of the study contractor, FIA, the Town of
Wellington, and Larimer County. The study was accepted by all parties present at this
meeting. Comments from the CWCB which affected hydraulic computations have been
incorporated into this study.

In 1991, the CWCB requested that information continued in the 1983 SCS study be used to
revise the Flood Insurance Study for the Town of Wellington and Larimer County
(Reference 43).

2.0 AREA STUDIED

2.1 Scope of Study

This FIS covers the geographic area of Larimer County, Colorado including the Cities of
Fort Collins and Loveland, and the Towns of Berthoud, Estes Park, Johnstown, Timnath,
and Wellington, and unincorporated areas of Larimer County.

The streams studied by detailed methods are presented in Table 1.

The areas studied by detailed methods were selected with priority given to all known flood
hazard areas and areas of projected development or proposed construction through 2006.

Approximate analyses were used to study those areas having a low development potential
or minimal flood hazards. The scope and methods of study were proposed to, and agreed
upon by, FEMA and Larimer County.

The upper and lower reaches of the Cache La Poudre River northwest and southeast of Fort
Collins, the Little Thompson River, and portions of Dry Creek were studied by
approximate methods.

8
