Information Report, North Clear Creek, Gregory Gulch, Chase Gulch,
Black Hawk, Colorado (Reference 1).

1.3 Coordination

As a result of correspondence between the regional office of FEMA,
the Colorado Water Conservation Board, and the City of Black Hawk,
it was requested that a Flood Insurance Study for Black Hawk be
prepared.

The final community coordination meeting was held on December 5,
1983, and was attended by representatives of FEMA, the Colorado
Water Conservation Board, and the City of Black Hawk. As a result
of that meeting, additional areas of flooding, studied by approximate
methods, were added to the maps (Reference 2).

2.0 AREA STUDIED

2.1 Scope of Study

This Flood Insurance Study covers the incorporated areas of the
City of Black Hawk, Gilpin County, Colorado. The area of study
is shown on the Vicinity Map (Figure 1).

North Clear Creek, Gregory Gulch, and Chase Gulch were studied
by detailed methods.

The areas studied by detailed methods were selected based on the
extent and validity of available hydrologic and hydraulic data.

Portions of North Clear Creek, Chase Gulch, Gregory Gulch, and
their tributaries; Silver Gulch; and Fourmile Creek were studied
by approximate methods.

Approximate analyses were used to study those areas having a low
development potential or minimal flood hazards. The scope and
methods of study were proposed to, and agreed upon by, FEMA and
the City of Black Hawk.

2.2 Community Description

The City of Black Hawk is located in southeastern Gilpin County,
in central Colorado.
