Likelihood of success and positive impacts
. Multiple resource benefits
. Opportunities for collaboration with other agencies

The concept of developing retention basins in the lower watershed is an idea worth
exploring, especially if year round flow of the river is not achievable. The development
of basins could serve as effective sources for groundwater recharge. Several studies
will need to be performed to explore this concept further such as groundwater elevations
and seasonal variations, groundwater flow and velocity, permeability of the soil profile,
water rights, location analysis, relationship between the river streamflow and the aquifer.

V. Difficulties Encountered

There were no serious difficulties encountered during this project.

VI. Deliverables

There are 4 main deliverables associated with this project:

1. EPA Final Report
2. Research Report
3. Appendix to the Research Report
4. Project Quality Assurance Plan (Attachment 14 in Appendix)

There were over 100 reference collected and reviewed for this report. Not all references
collected and reviewed during the project were used for this report. Copies of all
references collected for this report was provided to the local sponsors for future use.

VI. Evaluation of Project

The project was well received by the local watershed community and the local Alamosa
River Foundation. A presentation of the report approach and results was provided to the
public at the Valle del Sol Community Center. The topic of discussion was to discuss
watershed issues concerning the following:

. Purpose of the Project
. Resources and Chemicals of Concern
. Watershed Challenges
. Recommendations
. Question and Answer

VI. Conclusions and Recommendations

The following section summarizes the main recommendations for this project. More
detailed recommendations and a~:)essment discussion is provided in the Research
Document.

II
