September 15, 2004

Lower Arkansas River Basin
District 10
Diversion Structure Inventory

1 West Pueblo Ditch

Narrative of Structure Components and Repair Plan

The West Pueblo Ditch structure appears to be an intake for a pump station. This
structure is located approximately 80 feet downstream of the diversion point, or at the
upstream end of the ditch. The intake consists of a concrete structure with a
prefabricated steel enclosure on top. An 8-foot-wide by 8-foot-high screen is mounted
within an opening in the upstream concrete wall of the intake. The gate(s) were not
visible, as well as the remaining structure components. It appears water is being
conveyed from the intake approximately 300 feet north to a pump station.

Approximately 200 feet upstream of the diversion point, and approximately 1 ,200 feet
downstream of the Pueblo Reservoir Dam, there is a dam that spans the river. The dam
consists of a series of placed boulders, and appears to be designed to help divert flow to
the ditch. The banks of the ditch are lined with both natural rock formations and placed
boulders.

There is another structure of unknown name approximately 120 feet downstream (east)
of the intake structure. The structure consists of a concrete headwall that was
constructed between two natural rock formations, and has a 4-foot-wide steel vertical lift
headgate. Steel railroad T-rails span the top of the structure. Approximately 50 feet
downstream of the structure, possible remnants of the original structure remain.
Continuing downstream another 35 feet, is the beginning of a 100-foot-long concrete-
lined trapezoidal ditch. The ditch conveys flow through a CMP culvert beneath Juniper
Road, then continues east.

The overall condition of the intake structure appears to be good. No repairs have been
noted for the visible portions of the structure. The condition of the unknown structure
also appears to be good, but decking and handrail should be installed for access and
maintenance. A trash rack should also be installed upstream, to help keep debris from
collecting in front of the headgate.

Summary of Recommended Repairs

Diversion (unknown name)
o Install decking and handrail
o Install trash rack

Estimated Ranae of Cost

Low: $0 - $250,000

Farnsworth Group
