The structure is in good condition, but according to the water <br />commissioner steel structures do not last long on this river because of the acidity. It may be <br />necessary to eventually replace this structure with a concrete structure that is more resistant to the <br />acidity of the river. <br /> <br />Upstream Configuration: There is a "U"-shaped boulder diversion dam that diverts flow along the <br />river to the headgate, which sits along the north bank of the river. <br /> <br />Comments: The structure has a new concrete headwall, and the forms for this were still in place at <br />the time of the site visit. The headgate outlet has a wood board headwall. There is a "J"-hook rock <br />shoreline stabilization feature upstream of the headgate that appeared to be a fairly recent <br />construction.
